Four successful business tycoons’ first jobs

Love it!

Fortune

By John Schmoll
Tycoons aren’t born, they’re made through determination and a relentless pursuit of growth, improvement and innovation. Our review of several modern day business and finance tycoons reveals that successful business innovators have more than brilliant minds and a strong desire for autonomy.

All four of the mentioned tycoons on our list share a defining characteristic that shaped them into the successful business moguls they’ve become – when faced with initiative-crushing defeat from first job bosses, they bounced back.

three months in south east asia

This just brought a far off world to someone chilling in their living room! Beautiful sceneries and pictures!

I am currently travelling through South East Asia for three months. As I near the trips half way mark, here are a few highlights from Thailand, Laos and Myanmar (in no particular order).

For a look behind the scenes, my girlfriend has been keeping a blog of our travels at eatwelltraveloften.me.

All photos taken with a Fuji x100s and edited on the road with a Nexus 7 using VSCO cam.

3 things millennials want in a career (hint: it’s not more money)

To remain competitive, businesses need a fresh approach to compensation that reflects new values, attitudes and lifestyles. Perks such as free lunch and employee game rooms are great, but here are the three core values that…

Levi’s CEO: Do the world a favor n’ wash your jeans once every 10 wears

Are you saving water or trying to save time- or both? Funny one!

Fortune

I am the CEO with “dirty jeans.” Well, not exactly. My jeans are clean; I just don’t throw them in the washing machine all that much – research we began conducting in 2007 convinced me not to. Still, that insight, shared last spring at Fortune’s Brainstorm Green conference, cemented my reputation as the CEO who never washes his jeans.

That’s why I’ve embraced my reputation as the CEO who says, “wash less” and why I’m proud to leverage the insight and innovation of my company to help tackle the challenge. After all, few are as well positioned as CEOs to help solve some of…
